It does seem a little strange that James would
call attention to himself by asking the maid for a
record player, though, doesn't it? It would probably
tend to make her remember him, when he was there
on such a low-key mission. I'm not disputing that he did
it, mind you, but c'mon, Jimmy, think!

P.S. Did he travel with a stack of albums to play?

It's a valid question. I will ask Jimmy about it.

That is Not a Hotel Room

Post by Dan »

That sure doesn't look like any hotel room I ever stayed in - even during that time period.

I think sometimes little Jimmy gets caught in a white lie and digs a deep hole trying to get out.

That is a real BS story!

What hotel was it?

i disagree. i traveled with my parents in the 60's and it looks exactly like every 2nd rate motel that I stayed in. The plain curtain, cheap furniture etc. Plus Jimmy claims he brought his record player with him and if you see the picture, a record player is sitting on a plain kitchen chair. The same kind of chair that i've seen a zillion times in an efficiency room at a motel. now what gives this picture credence is the fact that the record player is sitting on a chair which is something you would do if you were setting up a temporary living accommodation. If this was his apartment or house, he would have it in a cabinet or on top of the proverbial "non working console tv" that everyone used to have.

Old Hotel Photos

Post by Dan »

I just spent the last 20 minutes trying to find old hotel room photos - no luck!

If I knew the hotel I could ask them for some vintage photos.

Now how many "second rate" motels/hotels carried an ample supply of record players to lend to guests?

Dan:the motel is the Lamplighter
Inn in Mesquite, Texas.

Wim: thank you for your reply-
and I hate to be a pain, but if
you speak to James, could you
try to get a description of Nicoletti's
rifle? If nothing else, it would be on
the record.

Thanks, Brian
