I remember reading a news piece (if I recall correctly it was on the 25th anniversary of the event) where the girl in that famous photo stated that what happened that day didn't really concern her anymore. I was truly stricken by that remark, and I mentioned it in passing to a teenage workmate where I used to deliver pizza. He'd never even heard of the massacre & said, "so?" I tried to explain to him that when soldiers open up on you with assault weapons, it doesn't matter if it happened two days ago or two decades, IT CONCERNS YOU. Totally fell on deaf ears. The thrust of my dialog with him had nothing to do with getting drunk/baked/laid, & so therefore had no meaning to him. A few months from turning eighteen, & he just didn't care. Try banging your head against that wall.
