Read an interesting snippet earlier from Jim DiEugenio - apparently at the time of LHO's return to the USA there was a regulation that no foriegn national could be granted a visa to enter the US if they could not be deported back to that country. There was no aggreement in place to allow Marina to be deported back to the USSR and arrangements were investigated for her to travel to Belgium first to circumvent the problem. ... But micacle of miracles, an exception was made for her .. and approved by the U.S. passport office by a senior offical described as a 'Rabid Red Hater' - Now work that one out!

That certainly played a part with Marina gaining access to the United States, thanks to LHO working for the CIA (not to mention being a FBI informant). That being said, some of the things that can happen aren't good when you work for that organization. Like being used as a patsy and then being ultimately eliminated.
