I believe this is from Jim Garrison.

July 3, 1971. No autopsy.Father to son...Captain Morrison took command of the Essex-class carrier Bon Homme Richard on November 22, 1963. His first act as skipper was to announce the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.[3] Morrison was commander of the U.S. naval forces in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Gulf of Tonkin Incidents of August 1964.[2][3] He later became Commander, Naval Forces, in the Marianas in 1972.[2]After earning flag rank, Morrison weathered his son Jim's very public rebellion, stardom and death while serving in high profile Navy posts in the Pentagon and the Pacific. He never mentioned Jim publicly, but he found it strange to visit friends' homes and see posters of his son on the bedroom walls of their teenage children. In 1990, Morrison and his wife traveled to Jim's grave in Paris where Morrison installed a plaque he had crafted with an ambiguously worded Greek phrase that meant "true to his own genius".[3]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Stephen_Morrison

I came across this article on tippet when I was actually looking for something else...J. D. Tippit (September 18, 1924 – November 22, 1963) was a police officer with the Dallas, Texas Police Department who, according to numerous witnesses and multiple government investigations including the Warren Commission, was shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald after Tippit stopped Oswald following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.http://www.viswiki.com/en/J._D._Tippit
