If you read the book, you would know that. JF - Chuck said: But you don’t fire, unless I miss. It’s gonna be your call at that point. So you got to be very alert on this. And I told him: Don’t worry about me. I got it, boss!+++++++++++JF – Nobody said nothing to me. At that point we pull out and as we went down the street heading for the intersection, the only thing that was said to me was … Mr. Nicoletti asked me “Jimmy, don’t you think you overreacted?” I said “What do you mean?” He said: “Don’t you think you fired too fast?” And I told him I was fixing to lose my field of fire, either I shoot then or I put it in my guncase and I leave! I said I had one choice. I said at this point, you told me we were going for a headshot, there had been no headshot. I said I was just following my orders. “I didn’t want to explain to you why I didn’t shoot!” J – Did he say anything to that?JF – That was the end of it. He told me at the intersection to make a left and pull over at the gas station. We get down there, he said “We’re getting out, we are getting into another car there.“ And I said OK, I pulled out and parked, they get out of the car. He said: “I’ll see you in Chicago!” And that was the only thing that was said. J – Did you take that as criticism?JF – I took it as criticism. Naturally!J – Did he criticize you very often?JF- No. The only thing he asked me if I thought I overreacted. J – You told him no and he accepted?JF – He accepted it.

I would like to add this for contemplation.I don't claim to be an expert by any means but I do have considerable experience with firearms.high power riffle shooting and reloading ammo.I remember in the early 60's when the advance-advertising came out announcing the Remington XP-100I don't think it was called a fireball at that time. The Fireball was a nickname attached to the experimental model originally made in the .222 caliber.Smokeless powder is just that. if the powder load is correct all the powder is burned in the barrel expanding and pushing the bullet down the barrel. So there is a need for the powder load to match the barrel length. The Fireball was born because it smoked when fired, why?The barrel was too short for the powder load hence burning powder out the end of the barrel creating smoke. Then for production the XP-100 was chamberd in the .221 caliber. This fact alone is proof of Jimmy Files story, a normal riffle would not leave any noticeable smoke and very little powder burn odor.Everyone who was looking saw the smoke from the Fireball.Tosh even smelled the powder from across the underpass
