They have much more advanced technology. Tesla provided plans for elaborate "death ray" weapons many, many years ago that I am sure have been perfected in the downing of aircraft for strategic political objectives, probably the Russians are ahead of us. Can you imagine the blackmail potential of one nation having such weapons in advance of another? "If you try that demand again we will be forced to.....!!!"

I recall reading an article in the early 1970's about a laser cannon that was used to shoot down a small aircraft.The picture showed a cigar shaped tube that was very long, maybe a city block and 10 or 12 feet in diameter, size may have been different as my memory might beoff a bit.So you can imagine what they have todayhere is an interesting British article.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10682693
