I just want to comment of a few things, mainly that for tthe benifit of you who werenot around at the time of the assasinatioon, I was in downtown, my hometown in Indianashortly after noon on 11-22-1963, just happened to have the car radio (AM) on as usualwhen the anouncement that the president had possibly been shot in Dallas.I didn't even know he was in Dallas that I can recall. My father and I raced about 8 blocks home and turned on the TV.TV coverage was in black and white, most TV's were B&W then as there were only a couple shows per week in color, Bonanza and Kraft commercials are the first I can recall. We were glued to the TV for the next 2 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.no one could get their emotions under contro and everything was a blurr. The only thing we knew was what the news people were telling us.We watched the coverage and all the confusion with them trying to get informationfrom wherever they could, then Waltter Cronkite pulled off his glasses and spokethose famous words "The President is dead"My mind was in a fuzz for awhile like the world had come to an end, and only nowdo I understand how very trrue that feeling was.It seemed that they had Oswald in custody right from the start. it is hard to sperate now exactlythe sequence of the way things became known.Friday night and Saturday we were told that a crazy commmunist had commited the deed.and pertinate inforation was leaked to the press to insure the feeling the Oswald had done it.Oswalds past was getting out very quickly, almost too quickly.Everyone was trying to get a glimp of this traitor and once when they was moving him hetold the reporters "I am just a patsy".Everyone thought Oswald done it, after all that is what we were told.we thought our world was secure but we were rudly awakened.Cammelot was ended, the King was dead.Sunday we watched for Oswald the communist to be moved, we wanted to get another look at that bastard.i bagan to wake up when Ruby shot Oswald. from then there wasws a nagging suspicion thall was notwhat it seemed and what we were being allowed to hear was maybe not true.My point is, we all never had an idea at first that Oswald had not done it and a lot of people thoughtthat Ruby had commited a heroic act. but some of us were a little more sceptical.I had never thought much about Johnson but we watched him sworn in with Jackie stamding therewas an unsettling feeling and I began to have nagging doubts about our future. We know the rest...........

Matthews was on Ruby's calling list right before November 22.Ruby , Harrelson, and Files can all be connected to R.D. Matthews and the hItman- end operation of the assassination at the grassy knoll. Joe, see the HARRELSON thread.

The president is dead

Post by Phil Dragoo »

JoeI was sitting in high school English class in Lillyopolis when the round silver intercom over the chalkboard told us the president had been shot. Everybody was abuzz--then the p.a. told us, "The president is dead. The buses are at the front. Classes are over."More buzz on the bus. At home the tube was on, the floor-standing black-and-white at the end of the living room. Over and over, the same crowds, the same chitchat. And Saturday.Sunday I was alone watching the upstairs tube. Black and white. Oh boy--now we'll get a good look at this guy--BANG"It looks like someone has SHOT Lee Harvey Oswald!" And shortly, they told us the inside scoop, "We've been told by a source within the Dallas Police Department that the man who shot Lee Harvey Oswald was known to members of the department."For so long, it was just a fact of life, the lone nut commie had done the sniping. It wasn't until I was sitting on a couch in New Mexico with a gal who wanted to watch Geraldo. . .he contained himself warning us it was going to be graphic. . .oh, it's the limo. . .WOW!--I jumped off that couch and half way through the tube. Man. There is Something Going On Here.It was another twenty years before I had time to get the books and catch up.Now you guys are hitting the street. I just found in Horne V how Connally told Bruno it's my state--you'll do it my way or don't bother to come. And Connally was Lyndon's Boy John (LBJ) since 1939--The thing was wired from the Joint Chiefs to the janitor at the Depository, Piper with the strange hair who may have been seen with a rifle in the window. The Hail to the Chief was all lead.
