But I have driven through Indianapolis MANY times on my journey's to Wisconsin and back. One year, I ended up driving basically non-stop from FLA to Wisconsin. Why? I couldn't find a motel room in Kentucky or Indiana that had a vacancy. The reason? That was the year of the first Brickyard 500 in Indy that was being held that week. Also, there is a White Castle near my old office in Tampa. I went there a couple of times a month or so. The place always seemed to be packed.

Martha was not familiar with White Castle and from my description as "belly Bombs"whenI took her for first White Castle she hesitantly ordered ONEthe waiter told her no one had EVER ordered just ONE.Of course being an Tex-Okie if it isn't Smokey BBQ or Black Eyed Peas forget it.As you know White Castles are about 2 bites, she took one bite and gave me the rest so that is a big joke around here.I bet Ken eats White Castles by the sack

Actually Ken, Krystal is very similar to White Castle. I also had a brain fart earlier, as the burger place near my old office was a Krystal joint. But I've been to both places and both are quite alike.

White Castles

Post by Phil Dragoo »

JoeVery accurate description of making White Castles. And they were placed in a cardboard castle before going into the sack (not bag, this is Indiana). They punch four or five holes in them in the manufacturing process.Kind of like making a von Pein although I'm not sure anyone's ever seen one.If one pops up, I think Jim D or Bob or you would eat it in about two bites.

JoeYes, born where Robert Welch founded the John Birch Society in 1957.The Welch Candy Company was on East 38th at Fall Creek, not far from Vonnegut Hardware on 38th at Pennsylvania I believe.Worlds apart: the John Birch Society and the world of the Vonnegut novels. Kurt went to Shortridge as did my father and brothers. Letterman went to Broad Ripple.Letterman is neither of the Birch nor the Vonnegut worlds.White Castle has onions, which is something which cannot be said of Doktor Von Pain.

AAHHH.You failed to mention Mr. Jim "KoolAid" Jones.Yes I was from a little further South in Bobby Knight country.A friend owns the chair Bobby tossed across the court. bought at auctiion $3500.bucksYes I met Robert Welch a few times and John McManus several times.I have nothing but good to say about my contact with the JBSA good friend ran the chapter where I lived.I was a member of the Trim committe for several yearsThey are under attack in Oklahoma City.I seem to recall 38th and Fall Creek is near the State Faurgrounds? What was the Indian TeePee there? seems like??Indy is the easiest big city to get around in.
