Why conspiracy theorists go to the other (dark) side
Why conspiracy theorists go to the other (dark) side
The two text book examples of this are Gary Mack in the JFK assassination and Dan Moldea in the RFK assassination. Both were big advocates of conspiracy at one point, but then both switched sides, going instead with the lone gunman theory. Why? If anything, the evidence has gotten stronger in both cases over the years in terms of a clear conspiracy. Did somebody, like the CIA for instance, coerce these individuals into changing their expert opinions by threat? Were they bought off? We know politicians are bought off everyday. John McCain and Joe Lieberman are two clear examples. Thank God for people like Wim that continue to search for the truth in the JFK assassination. Two of the biggest researchers in the RFK assassination have died recently...Phillip Melanson and Lawrence Teeter. They will be missed. That's why the rest of us need to continue searching for the truth. We have their attention. That's why Poppy Bu$h used the Gerald Ford funeral to try and distance his involvement in the JFK assassination by saying, "After a deluded gunman assassinated President Kennedy, our nation turned to Gerald Ford and a select handful of others to make sense of that madness and a conspiracy theorist can say what they will but the Warren Commission report will always have the final definitive say on this tragic matter. Why? Because Gerry Ford put his name on it and Gerry Ford's word was always good." Sure Poppy! I also think another quote by you was more truthful. Poppy said, "If the American public ever finds out what we have done, they will chase us down the streets and lynch us."

Poppy said, "If the American public ever finds out what we have done, they will chase us down the streets and lynch us."Bob, sorry, but: http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/01/1 ... tfwm8.html US Vice-President Dick Chaney has admitted that the US military and CIA have been spying on the financial dealings of Americans -- intelligence gathering normally authorized only by civilian policing agencies. The New York Times broke the story overnight, reporting that the Department of Defense and Central Intelligence Agency had been using "national security letters" to obtain the banking and credit records of Americans and foreigners suspected of terrorist activities in the United States. The US military and the CIA have long been restricted in their spying activities inside the United States and are barred from conducting traditional domestic law enforcement work in the country. But Chaney confirmed the main outlines of the report and defended the Pentagon and CIA activities as legal and necessary to protect military installations inside the United States. "This is a dramatic story, but I think it's important for people to understand here this is a legitimate security effort that's been underway for a long time and it does not represent a new departure from the standpoint of our efforts to protect ourselves against terrorist attack," he said on Fox News Sunday. "The defense department gets involved because we've got hundreds of bases inside the United States that are potential terrorist targets," he said. He called the spying "a perfectly legitimate activity" that the military and CIA had authority to carry out going back "three or four decades" and more recently confirmed in the Patriot Act adopted following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. "It doesn't violate people's civil rights, and it's an institution that receives one of these national security letters disagrees with it, they're free to go to court to try to stop its execution," he said. Citing unnamed intelligence officials, The New York Times said the Pentagon and CIA actions were part of an aggressive expansion by the military into domestic intelligence gathering which is traditionally the realm of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The newly revealed activities involve using national security letters -- a form of subpoena -- to gain access to financial records from American companies, the Times said. Banks, credit card companies and other financial institutions receiving the letters usually have turned over documents voluntarily, allowing investigators to examine the financial assets and transactions of American military personnel and civilians, the paper wrote. The letters "provide tremendous leads to follow and often with which to corroborate other evidence in the context of counterespionage and counterterrorism," the paper quotes Major Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman, as saying. While they would not offer details about specific cases, officials told the Times the military had issued the letters to obtain financial records on a government contractor with unexplained wealth as well as a chaplain at the US detention camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The chaplain was mistakenly suspected of aiding prisoners at the facility. Yeah, it's the same old song: the chaplain was suspected of smuggling small copies of the Koran into the prisoner's waterboarding room.Waterboarding = The prisoner is bound to an inclined board, feet raised and head slightly below the feet. Cellophane is wrapped over the prisoner's face and water is poured over him. Unavoidably, the gag reflex kicks in and a terrifying fear of drowning leads to almost instant pleas to bring the treatment to a halt.
The CIA wanted to know how the chaplain could afford to buy so many little Korans on his meager army salary. So, agents sniffed in his bank account records. Funny thing: the account was empty! Maybe the chaplain was trading Korans for pilfered DOD arms? The CIA is smart.
So, Bob, about that DVD purchase you made from Wim: you paid cash, right? Don't let your guard down.

I appreciate the advice Jim, but I won't ever stop being opinionated about this subject matter. Freedom of speech is one of the most cherished rights we have. Unfortunately, the dark side has the bully pulpit now and controls the press as well, at least for the most part. That's why websites and forums like these are so important. There is no doubt in my mind however, that this site is monitored by certain segments of the CIA and NSA. I believe that most of the folks that work for those organizations are as patriotic as you and me. Unfortunately, the leadership of those organizations right now are aligned with the "leadership" at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Just look at two of the more recent CIA directors, Robert Gates and Porter Goss. Can anybody have more connections to Iran/Contra and the Bu$hes than those two guys?

The Shadow
Bob wrote:There is no doubt in my mind...Nor in mine, Bob! Don't get me wrong. There is clear & present danger everywhere & matters are deadly serious. That's a given.Take, for example, the anthrax attack on congress, - something that is too little focused in cross-hairs. Now we know that the anthrax used was weaponized & therefore originated at Fort Detrick. That being the case it was necessary to destroy the anthrax culture collection stored at Ames Iowa which was developed at Detrick, so as to disconnect the link. So who's smarter than the CIA? Who authorized the Ames massacre? That would be the FBI. Who fiddled with & defeated the warrant request for Moussaoui's computer? Spike Bowman, of course, of the FBI's Radical Fundamentalist Unit. And Bowman was the first alerted about the Detrick problem. Funny, that Senator Leahy was opposed to the Patriot Act rush to judgment. Funny somebody tried to kill him. Of course, Osama might have plotted the whole thing out. CIA and NSA. I believe that most of the folks that work for those organizations are as patriotic as you and me.
Sure, that's why Osama awarded Bowman the FBI's award for "exceptional performance" in Dec., 2002. Is Osama's masterminding the whole show? Only the shadow knows.

bobwc, I've had my share of bullshit correspondence as well. I look at it like a red badge of courage. It goes with the territory. It means we got their attention. GOOD!!! It's almost like putting cheese out for the rats. Speaking of rats, Poppy Bu$h took the bait when he made his JFK assassination comments during the Gerald Ford funeral. The bastard said, "After a deluded gunman assassinated President Kennedy, our nation turned to Gerald Ford and a select handful of others to make sense of that madness and a conspiracy theorist can say what they will but the Warren Commission report will always have the final definitive say on this tragic matter. Why? Because Gerry Ford put his name on it and Gerry Ford's word was always good." Like I said, we got their attention. Let's keep putting out the cheese.
