Something has always bothered me about the BYP that appeared on the cover of Life magazine, seen below:http://www.ctka.net/2015/images_jcarter ... over.jpgIf you look at the "pistol grip" (that part of the wooden stock seen just behind the rear part of the rifle bolt) you can see where the photo has been retouched, and not a very good job either. For comparison, look at this photo of another M91/38 short rifle:http://www.dandbmilitaria.com/images/D/ ... jpgAnother M91/38, showing a close up of the area in question:http://assets2.lionseek.com/item/guns/m ... rni.jpgCan you spot the difference? On a real M91/38, the top of the stock/pistol grip is lower than the rear end of the bolt, and does not block the bolt as it slides rearward from the receiver. On the rifle seen on the cover of Life, the top of the stock has been redrawn incorrectly, placing the top of the stock/pistol grip higher than the rifle bolt. It would be impossible to open the bolt of this rifle. It may very well be this photo was retouched by staff at Life Magazine to make the rifle stand out better against the backdrop of the black clothing the subject in the photo was wearing. Or, it may have been retouched as part of the forgery operation. There is a distinct possibility, considering the oddities of the left hand seen holding the rifle, that the person whose body was used in this photo was actually holding something quite different from a rifle, and it was necessary to "insert" the rifle into the photo, following the insertion of the body and Oswald's head.

Even if the photos are authentic, it would be logical to believe that the CIA was setting Lee up as a potential patsy. They could have asked him to have photos taken of himself while holding his guns and Communist propaganda material. Oswald would likely not ask why, and would follow his orders. Lee could have been told to do this in case they could be used later to establish cover for an upcoming assignment and for him to just hold on to them for the meantime. Those setting him up would be counting on these photos being found in his personal effects later and thus helping close the door on him being the assassin. Just theorizing, but it's something to consider.

Ken excellent post and information.I don't think there is much doubt who Michael Paine was referring to in that tapped phone call conversation. Who was right in the middle of this entire event ? Who knew both of the Pain's who knew both of the Oswald's who knew George H.W.Bush who knew Alan Dulles who knew Lyndon Johnson who knew Jackie Bouvier Kennedy who knew William F. Buckley who knew Jack Ruby and the list just seems to go on and on. I completely believe Pain was referring to George de Mohrenschildt !!!!
