Re: OPERATION ZIPPER:

Bob! Like our 42nd President said often -- "Ah feel your pain!"There was more propaganda fallout from the assassination. The way the "getaway" of LBJ was choreographed, it would promote the idea that the system "worked" as authority was passed from the dead President to...

Re: OPERATION ZIPPER:

Phil -- you should write a book of poetry dealing with this stuff.I'm just left with a sense that the simplistic nonsense they teach kids in grade-school is so far removed from the real world. There either was a conspiracy, or there wasn't. But it's clear to me now that there was. The implications? I...

Re: O.S.S. (Office of Strategic Services:)

I would say that those earlier histories about the origins of the CIA are invaluable. But newer histories draw on declassified documents. I've found Bamford's "Body of Secrets" and Tim Weiner's "Legacy of Ashes" most illuminating.

Re: OPERATION ZIPPER:

Thanks, Tom.I don't know of a situation where I actually "threw out" something that "didn't match."I'm still pondering over Bob's "Gaulloises" discovery -- the "helmet of Vercingetorix." I refuse to concede at this point that it's "just a reference to Fre...

Re: OPERATION ZIPPER:

I'm humbled -- thanks, Bruce.I'm trying to recollect how I became immersed in this business. It started with the Clinton impeachment. Before that, I believed "Oswald did it" as late as 1995. I didn't get to see the Stone movie until around 1997, but I'd already seen Nigel Turner's "Men...

Re: JFK:The Ruby Connection Part 2 review by Jim DiEugenio

Seamus -- If you mean "where are the pages of the Phillips-Bugliosi letter of 1986, I posted them in the OPERATION ZIPPER thread.DiEugenio told me in an e-mail that I shouldn't publicize them too much -- they were an important discovery.I had a 3.1 megapixel Olympus camera, and a month to split...

Re: OPERATION ZIPPER:

Seamus -- I can't link Angleton to it because of his behavior after it occurred. I was going to post some more about this, but only to say that his paranoia about someone "outing" Oswald as pretext for the HONETOL mole-hunts can also have another cause -- the Penkovsky debacle. Penkovsky w...

Re: OPERATION ZIPPER:

That's about it in a nutshell, Bob.I started posting this material on this particular thread because I came across Wim's reference in "OPERATION ZIPPER" to what I'd posted in 2005. Since then, I'd tried to get the attention of various local friends and acquaintances concerning what I'd fou...
